Trekking

So, I am really digging the blog, as you can tell. I am so excited to have a venue where not only I am able to write, but I am able to share all of the funny, crazy, scary, and amazing moments of my daily life as a stay-at-home-mom of three small children. Today we went on a walk with Melissa and Avi. We started at Melissa's and headed to a cafe. I had Silvio in the double stroller for the first time and Sofia and Luca walked on either side of Avi in his big boy stroller. I should add that Sofia and Luca love Melissa, and for good reason. She is incredible with them, so they love going to her house and hanging out with her and Avi (who Luca used to call "Bobby"). We walked to the cafe for a quick coffee and snack and then we headed to the park. This is quite a trek, I might add. The kids did a great job of walking and the babies were sleeping. When we got close to the park, Luca noticed the loud noise coming from a weed whacker down the way. Of course Luca is drawn to any machine that makes loud noises, so he immediately ran to talk to the man. Both Sofia and Luca had a lot to say to this man who could not hear a thing. He smiled politely and nodded. I finally convinced the kids to follow us into the park and Sofia commented, "that was a nice mower man, mommy." Well, yes he was. We went to the park for a few minutes but had to begin our trek back to Melissa's. We decided to take the shortest route, even though we had to go up a huge hill and come down on the other side. I put Sofia on my back and pushed Silvio. Of course, Luca had to walk. He loves to walk whereas Sofia will walk for only a few minutes before she says "I'm having a hard time walking, mommy." She loves to be on my back, which is fun for me since I can snuggle with her while carrying her. We made it all the way back to Melissa's and we were all pooped. Melissa and I were tired but we had so much fun that we planned to take our trek again soon. Oh the simple joys of being a mommy....a great latte, awesome company, fresh air, and happy babies.

The Power of Three

Today I decided to head to Noe Valley with the kids. We started out at a cafe for a snack. Sofia and Luca each had a pastry and a milk box. I stood the entire time with Silvio in the Ergo. As I seated the two kids, a kind lady nearby came over and brought me chair saying "you definitely deserve to sit down." I thanked her but could not sit down because a) Silvio might wake up and b) when the kids are eating, I need to be ready for any possible disaster. We finished up and as we were leaving the same kind lady told me how well-behaved they were. I was very proud. I find myself being extremely anxious often when I am with the three because I feel like I may not be able to handle a breakdown of one or all children in public. Yet I felt empowered as we were leaving the cafe and felt ready to take on the world. Next stop: Rabat, a shoe store. Thankfully, we were the only customers since Luca and Sofia decided to chase each other around the benches and scream. I looked at some shoes while Sofia chatted up the salesperson. Sofia was filling her in on what we were looking for; "Mommy needs to find some silver shoes for Auntie Steffie's wedding, but I already have my shoes." We managed to leave with all of the toys back in the toy basket and walk out with the appropriate "goodbye" and "thank you." Next stop was a hair cut for Luca. I have been struggling with the thought of cutting off his beautiful, curly locks, but he has been pushing it out of his face, so I decided to try the "boy cut." So we went to Supercuts....yes, I should have known better. She just went for it and chopped off all of the curls and left a muddled mess. His hair is so uneven, and I am a bit disappointed that I took him there. Of course, since Luca was getting his hair cut Sofia HAD to have her hair cut too, so I caved. Of course, about 30 seconds into it, she was so over it and wanted the lady to stop. Girls. So I tackled a haircut and a snack with three kids. Yes. I felt great. The kids were awesome. Mommy to the power of three.

It's Never Too Late...

So I am trying not to feel like a terrible mother because I have failed to record the major events in my children's lives. I have a vague memory of when things have happened, but I definitely am feeling like I can't keep track of each child's milestones. So this is my attempt to begin...it's never too late, right?
Sofia is such a little girl. She is so convincing when she is trying to explain what she is doing. This morning she was putting on a "show" but when I asked her what kind of show she simply replied, "Mommy it is MY show and it starts NOW!" She had set up two chairs, layered blankets over them and had her lovies on the counter. She then put a bunch of cars under the chairs. She had her princess dress on with red tights, her fairy wings, bear ears, a tail, pink heart sunglasses, and socks on her hand ("handgloves"). Whatever show she was putting together, it was definitely well-planned!
Luca just makes me laugh. He is so incredibly excited about talking. He saw a a spider ("fider") and could not stop talking about it. He even talked to the people next to us at Tyger's about the "fider." Luca is the friendliest child, talking to everyone everywhere we go. I love that about him. He loves to play with his lovies and his trains. He must say "help me make a circle mommy"about ten times a day. So I am a pro at making circles with train track!
Silvio, also know as "nugg," "nuggalicious," "Shnug" or "Shnuggums" is such a sweet little boy. He is smiling a ton and loves his sister. He lights up when he hears her voice and she loves to snuggle with him. Silvio is getting bigger everyday and I am trying to cherish every moment since this is our last baby. He has had so much trouble with his belly, so I am trying to soak up all of the smiles and giggles when he is feeing well. Oh, I love my nug.

Wow, I feel great! It is so nice to write about my 3 babies. I look forward to having this space to record the small and big moments...there are so many of them every day!
